I solo traveled for the first time! I spent 4 days in Tokyo and another 4 days snowboarding in Hakuba. It was exactly what I needed. In the first one to two days I felt intense levels of loneliness. I think this came from being in such a foreign country where not many people speak English and also not knowing how to behave (where do you eat food bought at a Kobini, where do you throw out your trash, how do you get on a Shinkansen). Fortunately this went away once I started shredding the snowy mountains. I’m definitely the adventure type of traveler.
I’m really focusing on building the best version of myself. A fulfilled version. Life is all about continuous iteration. Health is at the top of the list. Eating well, working out often, sleeping well, thinking well, and most importantly spending time with people who positively reinforce the goals I have in life. I’ve never been interested in taking supplements, but I’ve decided to try creatine for the first time (on day 3). Next on the list is Adventure and Growth. After my recent solo trip (which on some level felt like an impossible thing to do, yet I did it and that’s why it felt so good) it’s obvious to me that I need some adventure or adrenaline activity at a frequent interval. I’m still figuring out the growth side of thing. So many possibilities! Building something that excites me, learning Chinese, economics, physics, or even writing blog posts. Endless possibility.
I’m also taking on the responsibility of hiring 1-2 Product Engineers at work. I’ve gone down this journey before, and it’s fun to try it again at a different company with new learnings.
